  • Arterial pressure analysis by Tail Cuff method

 

Conscious restrained rat or mice

The determination of systolic blood pressure and heart rate in conscious mice by tail-cuff method is a primary screen.

This non-invasive method allow the exploration on animals without an anaesthetic effect and to repeat experiments as many times as necessary in the protocol.

 

 

  • Arterial pressure analysis by Telemetry

 

Conscious mice or rats

The telemetry allows the continuous recording of the systolic, diastolic, mean blood pressure and heart rate with implanted probe. The evaluation of several physiological signals without disturbing the animal can be realized during few days or few months.

It is possible to study the effects of treatment on long-term, remodeling following surgery, the development of a pathophysiology on transgenic animals…

 

 

Arterial hypertension (L-NAME, Angiotensin II) - Animal model: rat, mice

These models are characterized by the inhibition of endothelial NO synthase after L-NAME administration in drinking water or increase the plasma concentration of angiotensin II (AII) (stenosis of renal artery or implantation of osmotic minipompe of IIA). These models can be studied between 2-4 weeks.

 

 

 

  • Pulmonary arterial pressure measurement (catheter-mediated)

 

Anaesthetized animal

Mean pulmonary arterial pressure is measured by the insertion of a catheter connected to a pressure transducer into the right jugular vein, then through the right atrium and the right ventricle into the pulmonary artery. Systemic arterial pressure is measured by another catheter inserted into the left femoral artery

 

Pulmonary arterial hypertension - Animal model: rat, mice

Model induced by hypoxia during 2-5 weeks (Hypoxic chamber).
